The common understanding of human constitution is dualistic—comprising soul and body. In this view, the soul represents the unseen, inner spiritual aspect, while the body is the visible, external physical form. Although this perspective contains some truth, it is ultimately flawed. This idea stems from fallen humanity, not from God; apart from divine revelation, no human concept can be fully trusted. While it is correct to say the body serves as man’s outer covering, the Bible never equates the spirit with the soul, treating them as identical. These two are distinct not only in terminology but also in their very nature. Scripture does not partition man into just soul and body; instead, it presents him as tripartite—spirit, soul, and body.
